Patient Support We have dedicated staff members to provide all the necessary services needed as you progress through your weight loss journey.  Prior to surgery, a formal class is held by the patient support coordinator and the dietitian, and certified fitness trainer to inform you of how to best prepare for surgery, what to expect post surgically and beyond. Once you have become a post-surgical patient, you may attend are open office chats held twice a month and monthly support groups. The list below (Speakers and Topics) is a sampling of the guest speakers we have engaged to come speak to you and hopefully give you insight into being as successful as possible with your weight loss efforts. In addition to unlimited appointments with our dietitian to discuss your food selection, preparation, and eating habits, you can also take advantage of a website called to further account for the progress you are making with your weight loss. For our out of state and out of the metro area patients we have begun to do a teleconference call with Dr. Pleatman, Jennie; our dietitian and Adele, our support coordinator.  We each have many years of experience in the field of bariatric surgery, and are anxious to share this knowledge with you. You are welcome to ask questions and you can get immediate feedback with any of your concerns. We also have a monitored Yahoo group site that you can become a member of and post comments or questions related to your life after surgery. Call our office and we will give you the link to become part of this group. Also, current announcements will also be placed on there.  We caution that when you read material from all the different websites on weight loss surgery, any medical advice that you obtain may not apply to your specific medical condition. Please consult with Dr. Pleatman before getting advice or instructions from random post-op patients, as this could put your health at risk. We urge you to link to the E-store we have through Bariatric Advantage on this site to purchase the essential vitamins and minerals needed for the post-op surgical patient.  If you buy these in a three month supply quantity, you will save money in the long-run.  The vitamins can be ordered automatically and delivered to your doorstep at set intervals.
